So here is the story. Becca woke up about 4am Tuesday morning with contractions. We called the Doctors office at 8am, they told us to come into the hospital. After hanging around the house and letting traffic clear out we got to the hospital at about 10:30 and set there……. hooked up to the monitors…..having contractions. At about 2:30 they sent us home with a shot in Becca’s butt for the pain and asked us to come back in the morning for our scheduled time.
We went home and had the Bower’s over for dinner and gave Becca a blessing. Tia Cat came over to help with Izaiah and Barb and we just hung out a bit and Becca slept. At about 8:45 Tia Cat came out of the bed room white as a ghost and said Becca needed help, Becca had ummm….. began the process of birth….. sparing you the gory details. Tia Cat loaded Becca into the car and Glynn and Becca were off. We covered the normally 25 min. dive in 13mins flat. I was kind of hoping to get pulled over so I could get police escort but it didn’t happen. We got to the hospital and went into the same bed in the same room as we had been in that morning, and Becca pronounced….. there is something coming out. When I looked down low and behold there was something coming out. I got the nurses they took a look and well……. Every one got a hurry on. As we moved Becca into a labor/delivery suite Becca notified the staff that her water had broken…. they questioned her but it indeed had. Dr. Maxey arrived where upon taking another look everyone got a greater hurry on because….. there was no C-Section going on tonight. Becca asked; This isn’t the OR are they going to do it here? The funnest exchange of the night came when Becca asked Dr. Maxey if he could hurry up and give her some pain meds; Dr Maxey replied; nope this baby is coming right now and there isn’t anything that anyone can do; Becca looked at me and said “ They aren’t giving me any pain meds; it hurts…. THEY AREN’T DOING A C-Section?” With her eyes wide and a new contraction about to start Dr. Maxey told Becca to push with the next contraction. The contraction began, Becca screamed once and pushed a little, Dr. Maxey reminded her not to scream because it wasted energy and too push one more time. No sooner had he said that he caught Jaxon flying out. After all the prep and everything Dr. Maxey tricked me into cutting the cord. The doctor collected the cord blood for donation and they gave baby Jaxon to mommie. Becca cried a little but Jaxon took right to suckling. We eventually made our way to the room for a night of being uncomfortable on a couch for Glynn and night of feeding Baby Jaxon and recovering.
Becca gave birth to Jaxon without pain meds, naturally over the course of 20 hours of labor and two trips to the hospital. Collier Jaxon Wilcox weighed in at 8lb 4oz and was 19.5 inches long. Both mommie and Baby are doing fine and we expect to go home on Thursday.
