Hello everybody!
We've had an eventful couple of weeks! We went on a trip to Colorado and saw sisters and I attended a retreat, Rocky Mountain Retreat, sponsered by the Exponent II blog that I like to read, as well as Feminist Mormon Housewives.
We had a great time reconnecting with both my sisters as well as Glynn's sister Kathy and Cousin Jaqi. We went to Casa Bonita in Denver, the one with the cliff divers and guy in a gorrilla suit. You may remember it from South Park, yes it does really exist and its lots of fun! AND the food isn't THAT bad.
We went to Denver Zoo and the Nature and Science Museum, Izaiah liked the rocks and the spaceship exhibits the best. I thought he would like the dinosaurs, but he just buzzed right through and seemed unimpressed! We stayed in a nice boutique hotel in downtown Denver and would definatly stay there again. While I was at my retreat Glynn stayed at the Table Mountain Inn in Golden and spent time with Kathy and met some of her friends.
I had such a wonderful time at my retreat, it was so nice to meet other Mormon women like me and talk about things without having to censor myself or worry about offending anyone. I have a hard time expressing my true feelings sometimes and relating to my peers; it was so refreshing to talk to women who are professionals as well as mothers, as well as feminists, who see the world through a Mormon lens like I do.
We saw the Movie "UP" on Sunday and had dinner with my sister Patricia and her husband Jim. Then the kids and Glynn went to bed at the hotel and Patricia and I had a nice long talk while I drooled over all of her beads and jewelry.
The drive home was hard, we started at 3am (because Jaxon would not go back to sleep!) and got home around 9pm that night. It was a very nice trip, but its always nice to come home and sleep in my own bed.
Now its back to reality and work and real life! Now I need another vacation to recouperate from this vacation!
