This reminds me of the trip I took to Nauvoo with GG and then infant Izzy-boy. We went on the compulsory historical tours and our costumed tour guide showed us into a small back-room kitchen with a rocking chair nestled between a rocking basinet and a butter churn outfitted with a lever at the bottom so it could be pumped up and down by the woman sitting in the rocking chair. Our guide joked that the woman could do 2 things at once, I thought on that for a moment and began listing other things she was probably doing at the same time: knitting, reading or sewing, rocking and singing to the baby in the bassinet with the other foot, watching the children play outside the window, waiting for water to boil for the evening meal or heating it for washing, while reaching over to the small stove to stoke the fire, and maybe something else with the other hand. That's at least 6 things at once from my count! All this while she is taking a little "break" in her rocking chair. Its pretty amazing how many things women are juggling at one time!
